THE GRAPPA MOUNTAIN
This mountain belongs to the Pre-Alpi Venete. Grappa's peak is 1775 m. high. Its history's linked with the 1st World War during which the Grappa was used as the last and decisive block to enemy troops as they advanced towards the Venetian plain.
As a defence, the "Vittorio Emanuele III Gallery" was built approximately 5 Km (4 miles) underground. Today on this mountain there is the Monumental Ossuary where 12,615 bodies are contained, of which 10,332 are unknown! .
