From October 25, 2025 to February 22, 2026, the Civic Museum of Bassano del Grappa will host one of the most anticipated exhibitions of the Italian art scene: a major show dedicated to Giovanni Segantini (1858-1899), master of Divisionism and unparalleled interpreter of the relationship between man, nature, and the mountains.
A unique retrospective on Segantini
More than ten years after the last exhibition dedicated to him, the showcase retraces the entire career of the Trentino painter, creating a dialogue between his works and those of the greatest European artists of the nineteenth century, including Millet and Van Gogh.
Visitors will be able to admire around 100 masterpieces, coming from Italian and European public and private collections – from the Musée d’Orsay to the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam – many of which are being displayed again after more than a century.
The exhibition itinerary
Organized into four chronological and geographical sections, the exhibition tells:
- The “scapigliati” and pastoral beginnings.
- The luministic and coloristic experiments.
- The approach to Divisionism, with his research on light and color.
- The symbolic masterpieces dedicated to the mountain, celebrated as myth and absolute space.
Collaborations and international prestige
The exhibition is organized with the support of the Segantini Museum in St. Moritz, the Galleria Civica G. Segantini in Arco, and in collaboration with Dario Cimorelli Editore, which will also publish the official scientific catalog.
Curated by Niccolò D’Agati, the exhibition is promoted by the Municipality and Civic Museums of Bassano del Grappa, supported by the Veneto Region, and included in the program of the Cultural Olympiad of Milan Cortina 2026.
